KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Information Technology - Project Engineer/Project Manager
· Supported/debugged approximately 20 PERL/HTML/SQL scripts that retrieved/updated/reported
data from Oracle database of Product Data. Revised and updated tools as
required to support data needs for departmental metrics, and for user
and customer reports. Created design documents for each of the scripts.
· Debugged code and corrected logic for a PERL/SQL script to automatically
provide a "Product Baseline" report. Manufacturing, Warehouse Management,
and System Configuration systems were provided with valid product data
insuring shipment of current product to customers. Eliminated duplicate
data entry of product change data.
· Project Engineer and Project Manager for replacement of a legacy document
management tool with a web/HTML tool and associated Oracle database.
o Created user requirements document(for users and Customers) and initial
Design document for the tool.
o Participated in "Use Case Study" to finalize high level design requirements.
Assisted with the completion of the Design Specification, including Screen/Web
Page designs.
o Established Database structure for new tool and data migration plan
from old to new database.
o Wrote and executed test cases for User Acceptance Testing of new tool
and trained users on new tool.
· Project Engineer and Project Manager for the installation of a shop/manufacturing
aid system for Electromechanical assembly areas. Responsibilities included
purchase and installation of PC's and required software, creation of shop/manufacturing
aids from imported CAD documents, and coordination of changes/updates
to PC's , application and documents.
Design/Engineering Change Management and Product Data Management(PDM)
· Worked as key member of Engineering Change Process team to streamline
the Engineering Change process resulting in a reduced implementation interval
for Engineering Changes from 120 days to 30 days or less. Engineering
Change approval process was reduced from 13 steps to 7 steps.
· 5+ years as a user/expert on Nortel's PDM tool(HTML and Unix Client/Server
interfaces) and database. Required duties included management of Product
documents, product structure, product coding, Engineering Change Notices(ECN),
Product Change Notices(PCN), CLEI coding, and new user training.
· Primary support for legacy PCN tool and database. Prime interface for
customers for any issues related to PCN's or output from tool. Thorough
knowledge of Telcordia's Product Change requirement document, GR-209.
· Resolved discrepancies between Mechanized Order Acknowledgement/Order
Recognition(customer invoicing) database/tool and Engineering Change Management
database resulting in reduced customer complaints and customer payment
on multimillion dollar invoices. Analyzed MOA coding process and provided
input for improvements and corrections to MOA/OR tools and process.
Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering
· Established two lines of Surface Mount Technology(SMT) placement equipment(Fuji
GL-5, CP-6, IP-3). Developed SMT placement processes for latest technology
components(ball grid array and column grid array). Implemented Unix server
to control equipment and generate placement programs for Fuji equipment(custom
application developed by Nortel). Trained Engineers to use the application
to generate placement programs.
· Improved inventory tracking of high dollar Raw Materials for circuit
board manufacturing by providing data and therefore management capability
to MRP system for $6M of components. Defined and implemented Warehouse
Management System updates required to insure FIFO of material and provide
inventory levels to MRP system.
· Integrated "final inspection" processes from Canadian facility into
existing US facility. Established product/information flow for MRP systems
to handle new routing of product. All product specific processes were
integrated to avoid customer impact.
· Support engineer for manufacturing areas for circuit board assembly,
electro-mechanical assembly, and system configuration. Provided first
line support on all issues. Worked with all functions to resolve issues
and put corrective measures in place.
Project Manager, Manufacturing New Product Introduction
· Project Manager for Manufacturing New Product Introduction teams insuring
no project delays were due to manufacturing related issues. Established
project requirements, interdependencies, intervals, etc. with global/multi-site
project teams. Managed contingency and recovery plans.
· Conducted Design for Manufacturability/Testability reviews for circuit
board and electromechanical products. Resolved issues with New Product
Introduction team.
