cabin compartment before aircraft is delivered to customer. Interfaced
daily with delivery center personnel (Flight Line/Ramp), airline representatives,
quality assurance, engineering, suppliers (internal and external) and
planning, while maintaining cost and an aggressive test flight/delivery
schedule of passenger/commercial aircraft (MD-11) valued at over $100
million each.
While a Group Leader, managed crews responsible to install the insulation
blankets, electrical wires, pneumatic ducts, raised and dropped ceiling
assemblies of aft cargo and cabin also managed crews responsible to join
major fuselage barrel assemblies. Was involved in the production
development of the shipside wing, wheel-well and empennage areas of the
first production model MD-11. Previously involved with the development
of structural, dimensional and parts' fabrication of the C-17 multi-purpose
military transport. Worked directly with development engineering
to determine how development problems encountered can be resolved. Made
sure all necessary documentation supported development and Douglas Aircraft
Company manufacturing/quality standards.

Responsible for training, instruction and leadership of sheet metal mechanics
and machinists engaged in the fabrication /assembly of detail parts without
tooling, using co-ordinated locations in accordance with dimensions from
E.O.'s, mylars or out-of-date tooling, to keep the B-1B military bomber
program on schedule. Two parts were usually made, one was used on
first production airplane and second part was used as a Master Part for
future tooling and drawing changes. Designed and fabricated
limited-use tooling to accomplish this monumental task.
