Equipment Design Engineer
¨ Responsible for the design
and implementation of new equipment as well as enhancements to existing
equipment used in the production of optical fiber. Design projects include
pneumatic, fluid, thermal and mechanical systems with individual budgets
ranging from $100.00 - $904,000.00. Responsible for establishing specifications,
documentation and training on equipment designed and installed in the
production process.
Process Engineer
¨ Responsible for 24/7 engineering
coverage relating to the optical fiber draw process. Utilizing SPC, historical
and/or real-time data and root cause analysis to correct current process
problem. Characterize and optimize the process in conjunction with equipment,
product and production changes. Aid in process changes to improve draw
yields and the reduction of scrap relating to the draw process. Aided
in the supervision of 50+ technicians reporting to the fiber draw process.
Work with other process areas
to improve overall yields and fiber quality. Represented draw process
engineering on the quality document improvement team to insure ISO compliance.
Equipment Utilization Engineer
¨ Analyze
equipment part usage in all fiber plant process areas and make recommendations
involving part and/or equipment modification to aid in the reduction of
spare part usage and production down time. Involved in the restructuring
of the fiber plant preventative maintenance procedures.

Product Development Engineer
- polymer extrusion equipment
¨ Responsible for research and
development work, problem solutions and the design of new polymer extrusion
gear pumps as well as enhancements to existing product lines. Development
projects may include but are not limited to applications involving hydraulic,
electronic, mechanical and chemical and/or customer requirements. Responsible
for determining and establishing specifications and standards including
documentation and training on new products. Performed Finite Element Analysis
on existing products as well as new designs. Consult with sales, service
and customer on product requirements and specifications where design problems
are involved.
R&D Extrusion Lab Supervisor
¨ Responsible for laboratory
and field-tests including the operation and data collection during polymer
extrusion trials and Rheology testing. Results of tests are documented
in such a way as to be presented to a non-technical or technical audience
depending on the testing requirements.
