EXPERIENCE

Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineer                      (company)                                             2000 - present

Designed and manufacture of high-speed wide bandwidth digital amplifiers for fiber optic industry. Project Leader/Coordinator with primary responsibilities involved with mechanical packaging design and wire bonding assembly.

·            Managed Wire bonding and Machine Maintenance Technical personnel for Production Facility during this time we increased volume and reduced first pass defects in excess of 100% using SPC method.

·            Developed new packaging concepts for amplifiers designs. These concepts were state of the art, designed to be low in cost and easy to manufacture in large volumes.

·            Worked closely with R&D and Manufacturing in establishing production fabrication process and procedures. Achieving ISO-9001 certification.

·            Provided technical support to manufacturing and establishing a lean manufacturing production lines. Achieving high quality output with less touch labor, reducing labor cost by 50%.

·            In a team effort, developed company wide workmanship standard, so that personnel could be trained to detect defects and increase quality of final product.

Hardware Design Engineer                                              Lockheed Martin                                 1989 – 2000

Design of Mechanical Hardware for space based commercial RF/Microwave Communication Assemblies (Receiver/transmitter and Power Converter Assemblies & Low Noise Amplifiers).

·         Designed lightweight receivers and transmitter operating up to the 30 Ghz Frequency range. Assemblies were designed in a way to be lightweight while maintaining a small footprint, easy to manufacture and still being able to survive the rigorous environment requirement. This was done to maximize mission payload and completed to meeting tight delivery schedules.

·         Worked closely in design team environment and using a concurrent engineering approach in design. Using my knowledge of machining process, unit-machining costs were reduced and delivery schedules from the supplies were improved. Updates to documentation were done in a timely fashion and overall output was increased.

·         Prioritize tasks to get a job done more effectively, was cost account manager on design related budget.

·         Responsible for scheduling, design, procurement and assembly of product from initial concept thru manufacturing qualification.

Mechanical Engineer                                                            Norden Systems                                   1986 – 1988

Design of military/commercial radar and navigational systems.

·            Responsible for the update of navel radar systems, converting the older radar equipment already in the fleet to newer electronic updates. Increasing the lifetime of the equipment used.

·            Designed elaborate rack based test equipment for prime equipment. It was done in such a way that it maintaining the customers requirements, low cost and on time delivery.

·            Performed the mechanical design and development of digital and RF packaging of electronic equipment used in shipboard, airborne and laboratory use.

Mechanical/Project Engineer                                      General Aero Products                     1983 -1986

Design and manufacture of Avionics Products used in civil and military aircraft.

·            Developed two new products lines (dead weight tester and pitot tube). Modified designs and enhanced performance of established products, allowing for new product to be added to company product base.

·            Established one of first PC based programs for tuning and calibration of dead weight testers, until this time all calibration was done by hand, with the program time to tuning was reduced 500%.
