Senior Mould Tool Designer

A twenty-five-man toolroom manufacturing plastic injection and compression moulds for automotive, building, telecommunication, IT, appliance and household products. Producing a wide range of single and multi-cavity hot and cold runner moulds of up to six ton using the latest CAD/CAM technology.

Responsible for all 2D and 3D tool designs, both in-house and sub-contract.

Worked with product designers during initial component design to help achieve cost effective tooling.

Created full 3D surfaced models of complete tool using Delcam's PowerShape software.

Prepared CAD models for electrode manufacture.

Compiled command files and macros for a variety of applications to help improve efficiency and reduce lead times.

Prior to 3D mould design, produced initial concepts through to fully detailed drawings using DuctDraft, PSDraft and AutoCAD.

Responsible for office scheduling, design quotations, training and coordination of 2D drawings and CAD data.

Manually created programs for the Heidenhain controller using basic programming techniques and "Q factors" to enable the machining of more complex forms.
