Project Engineer

As Project Engineer, duties involved becoming focal point for new installation of Blending Rooms and delivery of a complete and comprehensive engineering package. Implemented new Blending Room system from concept to startup in a Class II Division I hazardous location. Developed automated blending room system based upon current NEC and NFPA 79 standards. This automated system was controlled by an Omron CS1H-CPU63, it monitored, managed and recorded critical process operations and decreased human error and intervention during production. Responsibilities included designing and engineering Intrisically safe circuits in a hazardous clean room environment. Additional duties included status meeting, writing Functional, Software Specifications, ACAD Design, equipment selection, power distribution, BOM, ordering, supervision of panel builders, electricians, control panel design, PLC programming, OIT/HMI programming, pneumatic design, load calculations, testing and vendor coordinatior.

Programmed and modified existing Fix Intellution screens. Successfully integrated new Thermocode series 2 barcode labeler into manufacturing system. Generated ascii string parameters in PLC needed to initilize barcode printer. Removed existing double labeler operation and replaced with one labeler operation. Process Monitoring System:  Assisted in programming, integration and configuring of process monitoring system. Programmed GE 90/30, Logicmaster Series 1 and Logicmaster Series 6 PLCs. Configured GCM+ (Enhanced Genius Bus) Modules to communicate with all PLCs on the network, including Series 1 and Series 6 PLC. Assigned node addresses and wrote PLC code for 22 different machines. Wrote machine data collection logic that communicated to Master PLC. Wrote PLC logic that coordinates and sends data trough CMM module serial ports. This data was collected by VMidas software and displayed on Cimplicity HMI screens. Tested all data collection and serial port logic, and supported GE staff where necessary.  This new system allowed operators and management the opportunity, to view ongoing production and achieve improved process control.  Machine and operator effeciency could be more successfully anaylized and optomized.

Subsystems Engineer-

USPS: Worked on USPS (United States Postal System) Project. Responsibilities included ownership supervision, inventory and scheduling of 15 million dollar package handling Pilot Lab.  Due to ever imposing deployment schedules of USPS project.  Conveyor configurations had to be assembled and tested in Pilot Lab.  These simulated configurations insured that all mechanical, hardwire, and CAN (Controller Area Network)  interfacing was sufficient before actual deployment to several sites. Aided in detailed validation and testing of conveyor configurations.  Developed Pilot Lab schedule for Integration and Testing team, this schedule aided in coordinating efforts between Hardware Qualification team and Integration and Testing team.  This schedule optimized time of these two groups and  proved to be helpful. Also wired all necessary module and PLC communications from electrical drawings.  Took corrective actions for discrepancies found on diagrams, coordinated and directed team members with lab configurations.  Programmed Horner Electric HE200PLC288 using Cscape.  Identified and solved numerous mechanical and electrical interfacing problems. Updated Log of problems found and corrected.  Reported all findings to Hardware Qualification Team for assessment.  Generated Design Specification documents that was later incorporated into USPS system design.  Directed design team in developing ACAD drawing used for field installations.  Assisted field technicians with installation procedures. Assisted in developing SOW  (Statement of Work) used on FedEX project..

Faurecia:   Developed customized PLC, OIT(Operator Interface Terminal) programming and standards for Automated Electric Car manufacturing line.  Developed and programmed Omron CS1G CPU42 for custom application, configured Festo Device Net devices. Became Lead team member in the development of automated machine processes.  Organized and trained additional team member to optimize efficiency and quality of engineering processes.  Supervised and directed electricians in testing and wiring installation.  Became central team member in conforming developing application with customer standards.  Performed numerous electrical troubleshooting as a corrective measure for  quality control.  Performed company validation procedures to ensure operating conformance to customer specifications.  Created clear and concise PFD (Process flow diagrams), cross-referenced all electrical drawings with actual wiring for accuracy. Maximized machine production by evaluation process flow with team and eliminating bottle necks.  These techniques alone increased potential annual production by about 10%, and helped optimize overall system input versus output.

Anheuser Busch: Acted as integral part in assessing changes for K-Filter System Upgrade.  Modified electrical schematic and hardware to reflect planned engineering meetings and discussions.  Redesigned loop diagrams using Power Draft CAD system.  Redesigned various rack configurations to incorporate DH+ networks, and ethernet connections.  Helped modify new control room layout, according to company standards.  Changed the functionality of numerous analog output and input loops to be more efficiently controlled, by Allen-Bradley PLC5 and Factory Link (MMI).  Hoffman La Roch: Modified numerous process flow diagrams on Pegylation Filtering System, while referencing a detailed P&ID.  Redesigned existing Buffer Tank Process to function as a CIP process. Generated new navigational screens, using FIX DMAC (HMI). Performed numerous upload/download instructions to a Modicon touchscreen.  . These screens controlled the operation of the new CIP process and numerous Buffer Tank sequences. Programmed PLC using RS-logix software.  Generated new CIP sequence and valving operation code according to company standards.  Modified PID Heat Exchanger feed back loops. Tested all sequence operations, valving and alarming in conjunction with validation engineers. Trained personnel on operation of new and modified sequences. Carson Products:  Designed and programmed from start to finish customized application for hair relaxer batch sequence. Supervised electrical contractors with integration of all peripheral devices to PLC. Modified electrical schematics to incorporate new devices such as:  Jaguar Mettler-Toledo weight scales, thermocouple devices (RTD), Baldor VFD, electric motor, pumps and pneumatically controlled solenoid valves.  Modified SLC 5/04 using Rs-logix programming software.  Generated navigational control screens on Panelview programming software.  Successfully integrated touch screen technology with new and improved system.  Trained all necessary personnel and performed functional tests on finished project.  Modifications successfully improved cycle time, repeatability, and lowered scrap costs, due to the minimizing of human intervention and maximizing automation.

Johnson and Johnson: Modified Plasma Measuring Apparatus.  Generated navigational control screens on FIX DMAC software.  Generated trending analysis screens. Successfully connected bar code reader to PC COM port, using winwedge software (Windows NT platform). Wrote scripting instructions to capture port values to be displayed on FIX screens.  Generated  various tags to aid in analysis of product.  Generated archiving files from FIX that aided QC productivity. Wrote initialization commands for peripheral devices such as bar-code reader and labeler. Developed Detailed Design Specifications, according to engineering meetings. Added alarm screens and numerous tags to fix database.   Updated DIT (Data Image Table) to incorporate new changes in PLC program. Generated BOM, and purchase requisitions needed to complete project.  Performed functional tests with J&J engineers for final project approval. The finished project eliminated older equipment bottlenecks on the production line, and allowed for a higher production line throughput    Haverstraw County water treatment Upgrade:.
