Research Assistant: Precision Micro Machining Center, Toledo Oh. August
2000- May 2002
Designed and wrote NC codes for FANUC controller for manufacturing
a male and female joint machined on a wooden block with machining tolerance
of 0.5 mm. Drawings were made in AutoCAD and simulated using SmartCAM
and MillSim.
Worked on the Lapping Process, fabricated precise surface finish
of ceramic rings that are used as seals in automotive and manufacturing
industry. Analyzed effects of motion on material removal rate (MRR) and
surface roughness.
Projected costs, procured materials and tools necessary, and conducted
tests.
Developed a mathematical model to depict and analyze the motion
involved in lapping process, used MATLAB Version6.
Engineer - Technical Services Firetech Ltd., Mumbai, India: A leading
manufacturer of firefighting equipment. July 1998 - December 1999
Conducted motion time studies for production line. Suggested improvements
related to performance measures of workers to meet production deadlines
by analyzing workforce utilization.
Supervised production line consisting of 25 operators, setup technicians
and process controllers.
Prepared staff members for successful implementation of ISO -9001
(business and shop floor activities).
Responsible for technical support and sales in western India for
Automotive, Stamping production, Sugar, Inks, Carbon Electrode and Metalworking
companies.
Projects:
Manufacturing System Simulation: Simulated shop floor activities
for heat treatment plant using Arena which included simulating data with
different batches of different batch sizes and times.
Vehicle Dynamics: Project Involved using CarSim for investigating
characteristics such as acceleration and braking tests and their effect
on load transfer, steady state turning tests, under-steer gradient of
vehicles.
Presented a report on Ultrasonic machining which uses sound waves
to produce vibrations that cause material removal. Discussed the process
and its applications.
Research Papers / Seminars:
Belt Grinding, Rotary Combustion Engines (Wankel engines), Water Cooling
systems of Automobiles, Doors and Windows of Vehicles, Solid Handling
Pumps.
