in a 'fast track' R&D system business. The primary function was integrating
test and measurement equipment into a system, providing test solutions
for the Telecoms market. The managerial tasks undertaken in this role
were:§ Day to day man management of resources§ Budget setting for the
department§ Initialising fundamental processes to streamline 'ways of
working'§ Pool resource management§ Departmental scheduling of workload
to critical timelines§ Promoting 'cultural change' to provide alternatives
to meet the changing market environments.§ Hardware and software optimisation§
Coaching and implementation of a Work force Management Program§ Project
Lead for Product Development in the implementation of Oracle and a Product
Database Management software (MatrixOne) for Loveland site.§ Centralized
services to accommodate all site businesses.

Design Office Manager
Responsible for building and managing a design office of 12 people for
Tandberg Television (formerly New Digital Systems). When I commenced work
in 1994 I was the only full time mechanical designer; since then I have
increased the size of the mechanical design team to its current size whilst
the company has moved from being an R&D house to a production company
working at the forefront of technology in digital television systems. In
growing the team I have undertaken the following:§ Personnel management,
including recruiting, training, coaching and implementation of a redundancy
program (following buyout of the company by its current owners)§ Familiarisation
with a new CAD tool, introducing it to the company as the standard tool
and implementing a complete system design process based on this tool.§
Defined and implemented processes for design for production - at detailed
level - and also for liaison with production.§ Assisted company management
in understanding the needs of a production environment compared to those
of a research house. Liaised extensively with engineering staff to facilitate
production friendly system design processes.§ Introduced and managed rapid
prototyping programs to reduce time to market for products and reduce
design costs.

modelling system. The team size varied according to business requirements
and on average comprised 2 designers and 2 'detailed draughtsmen'. As
Section Leader I was responsible for the technical design and costs and
timescales for the projects, and introduced the use of stereolithographic
techniques for rapid prototyping.
July 1998 - May 1991Senior mechanical designer working on defence equipment
using Anvil 5000 3D drafting package to meet military standards. Designs

design, production and assembly techniques for a number of factory products.
June 1980 - September 1985 Served a 5 year apprenticeship during which
I gained my ONC and HNC in mechanical and production engineering. Awarded
Technician of the Year in 1981. Departments within which I worked were:·
