Duties:
Was assigned the responsibility for the engine crankcase, engine mounts,
labyrinth seal, connecting rods (including bearings), main bearings, and
portions of the engine power assembly. This included component mechanical
development such as: cost effective machining/assembly improvements, improvements
to statistical process control to ensure a six sigma design, general support
for manufacturing, as well as overall responsibility for these parts to
ensure that any problems encountered were quickly and thoroughly dealt
with. This engine is V12-16 cylinder, four stroke, turbo-charged, heavy
diesel engine.

Duties:
Interfacing, and liaison with engine development partners GETS (General
Electric Transportation Systems: Heavy Diesel Engine Development) to ensure
that proposed designs from FEV were: manufacturable, met Six Sigma Quality/Reliability
design initiatives, were cost effective, and were technologically sound.
Providing additional engineering support to design teams in Germany, USA,
and India with statistical data processing (score cards for Six Sigma-statistical
evaluation of in-house manufacturing data).
Providing additional CAD support, including:
UniGraphics CAD translation to neutral formats such as IGES, STEP, and
DXF for communication with component suppliers.
Creation of engine components in UniGraphics R16.
Transferring of CAD files into, and out of the PDM system "iMAN", as well
as maintenance of the PDM system, including very large engine assemblies.
Importing of CAD files for use in CAM applications.
Ensuring communication with suppliers and development partners is correct
and concurrent utilizing the latest in e-communications, and technical
presentations.
