exhaust manufacturer for GM and Ford. Member of staff, new plant start
up crisis management team. Managed; 19 Maintenance Techs, OEMs, and
Contractor’s efforts to get production machines up and running in a
crisis mode. After first 3 years fulltime Engineering duties; designed
safety features, evaluated time studies, designed fixtures, tooling
and machine components to increase reliability and improve quality.
Designed machine operating systems to reduce cycle-times. Core member
on teams that developed production line layout plans. My involvement
with new product launch teams was extensive. This included; managing
timelines, evaluating OEM designs and bids to meet requirements, purchasing
equipment, managing machine and equipment build schedules, awarding
transport & rigging bids, placement and debug, oversee final runoffs
with OEMs. I had responsibly for all facility utilities requirements
supporting production, including main electrical and buss line distribution.
Implemented OSHA, EPA, NEC, QS9000, ISO14001 compliances. Obtained building
permits where applicable. Support
for continuous improvements and cost saving team projects including;
technical design, providing outside contractors when necessary. Evaluate
time studies and justify proposals. Applied electrical, programming,
and mechanical engineering to 24 robotic mig & laser welding cells
and 74 various production machines. Managed annual and project budgeting. $ 55K
Project
Engineer, 1993-1995 Leggett & Platt, Mason, OH Bedding
spring manufacturer. Engineered and managed upgrading 35 relay logic
assembly machines and plant wide conveyer systems to PLC controlled;
including stripping all wiring & relay switches, no electrical schematics
existed. Wrote PLC programs, designed electrical control panels, designed
hydraulic and pneumatic improvements, generated new schematics on CAD.
Supervised and trained technicians to install and troubleshoot upgrade
package. Managed 24 maintenance techs. Designed and implemented machine
downtime & man-hour data collection systems to target continuous
improvement and maintenance efforts. Managed project and maintenance
budgets. $ 48K
Engineering
Technician, 1988-1993 Lucas Sumitomo, Mason, OH Caliper brake
supplier for Ford Motor Company. New plant start up, joint venture Lucas
of England & Sumitomo of Japan, Installed and debugged new $ 12M
automated machining and assembly lines. Engineering duties included,
machine and parts transfer equipment reliability design improvements,
PLC programming, CNC troubleshooting, fixtures, complex pneumatic and
electrical actuators manipulating parts through machining and assembly
process. Designed machine calibration tooling & gauges reducing
setup time and lowering scrap rate. Core member of continuous improvement
implementation team. Setup/Changeover Time reductions with Automated
Fail Safes $ 46K
Maintenance Engineer,
1984-1988 Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., Santa Cruz CA Machine design improvements.
Skills applied include electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic,
plumbing, welding and boiler room technician. Project Manager for rebuild
and upgrades 43 Electric SCR controlled forklifts. Rebuild included
