I
have been employed for most of my career as a “Machine Designer” creating
custom automation machines to support manufacturing operations. I have
been employed at both small and large design and build firms as well as
companies that do their own in-house projects.
I have designed projects for GE, Kaiser, Siemens, Honda and Parker-Hannifin
to name a few.
Some of my attributes are:
* Bachelor of Science-Mechanical Engineering
* Diploma-Machine Tool Technology
* (13) years in manufacturing providing product support and custom machine
designs
* Proficient using AutoCad to produce ANSI standard details, BOM, assembly
drawings
* Natural mechanical aptitude
* "Hands on" person
* Metal fabrication/Machining/Cutting tool experience
* Capital Equipment selection and purchase
* Computer skills using Microsoft products
* Extensive engineering library and large collection of automation component
catalogs
* Self Starter
* Dependable and stable work history
I have a portfolio of machine design projects that I have created over
the years. I have also captured my latest machine design project in action
on VHS tape. This would give you an accurate picture of my abilities.
Available upon request.
Offering
a diversified background in machine design and manufacturing plus a Bachelor
of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
MACHINE DESIGN: Developed concept and design of bowl
fed machine tool that automatically
loads/unloads (8) versions of stainless steel nut. This machine drills/reams
product while monitoring quality via transducer.
Designed power transmission system that utilized steel core timing
belts, pulleys, clutches and pneumatic cylinders. This system transfers
power to rollers used on a web handling conveyor line.
Designed and programmed servo controlled
high-speed vacuum hose trimming machine. This machine stretches hose,
strips plastic, cuts wire and unloads trimmed hose “on the fly.”
Worked as member of Design Team to
develop multi-station assembly line for auto supplier. Duties included
robot machine base design, detailing components of sub-assem., B.O.M.
and parts list.
Designed (3) axis programmable heat
staking machine to install inserts in plastic housing. This inserter reduced
direct labor by 60% saving $90,000 per year while increasing quality.
Designed and documented on AutoCad
the pneumatic and gas schematics for a multi-million dollar assembly machine.
Calculated flow rates, Cv values, FRL capacity etc… These components were
sized as a system to meet the cycle time required.
Designed and engineered a multiple
spindle drill machine that creates (36) holes in an aluminum forging within
a (10) second cycle. Gained extensive knowledge of sizing machine tools
for metal removal. This machine increased output by 50%.
MANUFACTURING
SUPPORT:
Developed “vendor catalog” database. This system reduced the time
required developing concepts and organized the engr. library.
Selected
manufacturing equipment such as drill presses, milling machines, pneumatic
assembly tools and die presses.
Designed
test fixtures and gauges to verify that production is meeting quality
standards.
SET-UP
AND Processing:
Modified and programmed assembly equipment using Allen Bradley SLC 150 logic controller
Sampled
injection molds with various engineering resins.
In
charge of setting up production machines in the manufacture of aluminum
housings for fluid valves. Setups include vertical drilling stations,
milling machines and precision honing tools.
Worked
in the tool room of a die casting shop doing mold repair and building
replacement components for aluminum casting dies. Duties included lathe
work, grinding precision cores and surface grinding.
