THE EIGHT POINT CANDIDATE PREP
(Provided by Chris McGrath - Career Account Specialist)

This prep usually takes about 20 minutes.

Candidate to take notes on these eight points.

1. What are the duties and responsibilities of the position for which I am interviewing?

2. What is my #1 priority that has to be done before I leave each day? Why?

3. A. What are the production/sales goals expected? (1st year, 1st project, etc.)
B. What obstacles would prevent me from either reaching or completing these goals?

4. What are the short and long term goals for the person in this position?

5. Questions. The questions to which you need answers, to determine if you want this job. (You are not allowed to talk about compensation or benefits.)

6. Salary. (This is the "trap" question) You say, "I would like as much as the position will pay." Or, "I'm currently @ $ _____K. Although I would like an increase, I don't know enough about the opportunity to answer that fairly." Or, "I am more interested in opportunity than money. I know you will make a fair offer. What I want to hear about is opportunity."

7. Ask for the job! (If you want it.) Your #1 priority is to get the offer; your #2 priority is to know the next step. Always send a short, hand-written, follow-up note!

8. A. Never answer a question without asking one first (sharp angle close).
B. 30-30 rule.
Note: Now is a good time to "re-cover" the reasons for not taking a counter-offer!
