Packaging Engineer 04021

LOCATION: Michigan

INDUSTRY: · Global packaging leader. Cooking and appliance packaging applications.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Under the general direction of the sales/engineering manager, this individual will be responsible for the technical aspects of the Two Companies Packaging Partnership. This position will have primary responsibility for the interrelated technical development of the Company's products and the processes used to manufacture these products. This position requires detailed technical knowledge of a number of packaging materials. This will include, but not limited to: Company packaging forms, corrugated board, expanded polystyrene and plastic films/bags. Computer aided design capabilities in these packaging media will also be required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: · The person resides in a customer location full time, representing the company. Run package engineering, damage reduction, and cost savings projects for the Partner Company in North America and Canada. Work with packaging engineers from other suppliers to complete projects. Project management - 40%, Customer relations/sales - 30%, Individual engineering - 20%, Sales/administrative work, Company planning - 10%. Partner Company management is most interested in damage reduction, cost reduction and introduction of new products. Company is most interested in customer relations and sales. The person must be very good with people and be able to communicate customer information to the Company without continual prompting. The assignment is in the cooking division, but may also be involved in other appliance packaging applications. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

REPORTS TO: · Engineering Manager

SUPERVISES: · Minimal

EDUCATION: · Required Education: Four-year undergraduate. Package engineering.
* Preferred Education: Four-year undergraduate. Package engineering.
* Certifications/Licenses: Certified packaging engineer preferred, but not required.


EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT: · Required Experience: Three years
* Preferred Experience: Six years, engineering and sales.
