Engineer 04031
LOCATION: North Carolina
INDUSTRY: · A leading manufacturer
of diversified industrial equipment and components.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Coordinate
with design engineering, marketing, and the shop floor on the manufacturability
and implementation of new and revised products and processes. Suggest,
evaluate, implement and manage multiple manufacturing projects of a large
scope from beginning to end. Technical liaison between design and production
in screw rotor, and Centac cells. Controlling and reducing plant expenses.
Technical resource for, initiate and improve processes related to Coordinate
Measuring Machines (CMM). Evaluate and oversee current and prospective
manufacturing processes. Evaluate production capacities (capital recommendations).
Implementation of capital equipment including evaluation, selection, run-offs,
and implementation. Maintain current knowledge base of "best" industry
manufacturing practices including lean manufacturing, Demand Flow Technology,
Statistical Process Control and other techniques. Maintain knowledge base
of latest machine tool technologies and companies. Implementation of special
projects. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures. Support safety and
environmental practices. Directly Supervise Summer Interns, Manufacturing
Interns, and indirectly supervise Manufacturing Technicians as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: · Implement
cost effective manufacturing, working with marketing specifications and
design engineering requirements and overlaying this on existing capacities
and capabilities to arrive at a cost effective workable process. This
usually requires multiple negotiations and concessions from all parties
before an acceptable solution can be determined. Ability to approach a
problem or situation that has not been previously encountered, gather
information, make assessments, devise a number of options, recommend and
implement the best option to deal with the issue. Requires significant
technical knowledge of machine tools and processes, knowledge of business
processes, and excellent communication and people skills.
* Occasional worldwide travel visiting machine suppliers, tool shows,
and sister IR plants.
* Frequent contact with machine, tool, and fixture vendors.
* Deals with highly confidential and strategic technical information daily.
REPORTS TO: · Plant Manager
SUPERVISES: · Technicians
EDUCATION: · BS Engineering
EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT: · Basic
understanding of machine tool operation.
* Familiarity with Computer Systems, Programming, and Office Software,
Project Management.
* Advanced blueprint reading competency including geometric tolerancing
and dimensioning.
* Desirable: working understanding of rotary screw compressors and/or
Centac compressors.
