LOCATION: Illinois

INDUSTRY: A leading manufacturer of Cordless Tools systems for construction, remodeling and industrial applications.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Using the appropriate engineering tools, resources and methods, create new design concepts that meet defined marketing / engineering/manufacturing requirements. Under broad project guidelines, independently identify and implement project action plan(s) and schedule corresponding activities to meet product development timelines. Select and assign various project tasks to technicians and/or design engineers. Validate final design(s) and its adherence to specifications. Represent engineering in cross-functional team meetings and communicate with outside suppliers to improve new and existing product designs and / or explore new technologies. Monitor and report project progress and expenditures as required. Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position will require an individual who with minimal supervision operating within a strong team environment, can develop, coordinate and implement all technical and administrative aspects of a single developmental project from concept through production.

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

SUPERVISES: n/a

EDUCATION: BSME preferred

EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT: 5 years minimum experience in technically related field. Product development experience (commercial), ability to design and solid model using CAD (Unigraphics a plus), knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques, design knowledge of parts made from die-casting, injection molding, metal stamping, investment casting, wire form and rubber molding processes. Ability to participate and cooperate in a team environment. Consistently practices proper project and time management skills.
