Engineer 04039
LOCATION: Michigan
INDUSTRY: Automotive
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide
direct day-to-day support to the manufacturing brake operations within
the plant, with emphasis in tooling maintenance and management. Specify
perishable tooling, maintain tooling and fixture machine drawings, establish
tooling min & max levels, determine cost-effective tooling and establish
tool life. Create and maintain documents and/or databases, including creation/revision
of APQP documentation, Manufacturing or Process Instructions and Standard
Operating Procedures. Work with team members and other functional areas,
through the Corrective Action process (CAR) or other related forum or
process, to resolve customer issues related to quality and design and/or
issues related to the process and equipment. Work with Design Engineering
to implement changes due to product changes. Review and make recommendations
to improve product design and processes, using various analytical methods
and tools. Participate in new product development, implementation and
other activities related to launch. Based on production guidelines, approve
design changes and verify these changes do not affect the process. Participate
in identification and resolution of issues related to safety and ergonomics.
Special projects, as assigned. May provide work to clerical support and
assist in audit responsibilities within a plant. Will have responsibility
for safety elements, including safety, assisting in accident investigations,
rules, regulations and practices.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Excellent
oral and written communication skills and organizational skills. Must
also be able to interface successfully with all levels of employees. Excellent
time and project management skills. Must have hand dexterity at moderate
speed with accuracy for half of each day. Requires steady, active effort
and continuous walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able
to work in all areas of the plant.

SUPERVISES: N/A
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical
or Machining Engineering or a closely related field. May substitute years
of experience and Associate's Degree for Bachelor's Degree, where experience
and Associate's Degree is directly applicable to position.
EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT:
Three to five years as manufacturing engineer, machining engineer or CNC
technician. Prior experience working closely with the manufacturing floor
to identify and resolve technical problems. Experience or familiarity
with Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma concepts or principles. Experience
on Okuma machines is highly desirable, but not a requirement. Basic computer
skills, CNC programming.
