• Overseeing the maintenance of a KDF 944GT sputtering machine for
maximum throughput and quality.
• Overseeing the operation of a KDF 944GT sputtering machine for
maximum throughput and quality.
• Technical contact for all aspects of thin film processing that
involve sputtered films.
• Technical contact for out of house processing of deposited metals
and dielectrics.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Oversee the operation of a KDF 944GT in-line sputtering machine
with respect to:
• Leak checking
• Target qualification
• Cryopump and compressor operation
• Mass Flow Controller calibration
• Process optimization for the deposition of the following metals: Ta,
WTi, Ni, Au, Mo, Ti, Al, Cu, Pd, Ag, Cr. This will include stress, temperature,
hardness, resistivity, diffusion.
• Process optimization for the deposition of reactively sputtered TaN
to maintain a uniformity of better than +/- 3% resistivity across a 12
inch sputtering pallet for production processes
2. Oversee the operation, maintenance, and calibration of all
equipment necessary to support the KDF 944 GT sputtering machine. This
includes:
• Dektak3 profilometer
• 4-point sheet resistivity probe
• Residual Gas Analyzer
• Water Chiller system
• Sputtering gas cylinder monitoring and calibration
3. Oversee the maintenance of a 944GT in-line sputtering machine
with respect to:
• Target changes
• Monthly chamber cleaning. This will require 4 – 8 hrs on a Saturday
to assist with the chamber cleaning
• Shield cleaning and conditioning
• O-ring maintenance
• Cryopump and compressor maintenance
• Computer backups of the tool software and datalogs
• Recipe control and optimization
4. Update and maintain a spare parts list for the KDF 944 GT in-line
sputtering machine.
5. Research and establish production processes for the cleaning
of all materials before sputter deposition. All substrates sputtered must
first be cleaned to the highest quality before sputtering with any metals
to ensure that the film meet the requirements of MIL-std-883. Substrates
after sputtering must pass an adhesion test and be contaminant and particulate
free.
6. Research and establish production processes in the following
areas
• Etching of sputtered metals
• TaN passivation
7. Overseeing production vacuum equipment repair and maintenance
8. Generation of manufacturing procedures
9. Assisting with the generation of manufacturing routings whenever
technical input is required.
