Milwaukee's Red Zone
Experience Begins Second Year
News Center - An exciting 53-foot interactive mobile
event and training vehicle designed to provide hands-on testing of Milwaukee
tools for professional tradesmen and women
Insider News - February 10, 2005 - Jobwerx News - The
Red Zone Experience offers power tool application and safety training
as well as provides the latest new product innovations from Milwaukee
including the new V28™ Lithium Ion cordless power tool line. With V28
technology, end users receive significantly greater power and up to
twice the run time of current power tool battery technologies with a
lighter battery weight. This breakthrough technology allows Milwaukee
to introduce new tools like the world’s first cordless band saw powerful
enough for every day professional use.
The 53-foot trailer has pop-out sides that expand the rig into a mobile
training center and also has extensive areas for contractors to test
new products. It is designed with three separate zones that feature
the Milwaukee Experience – a job-site themed theater for video presentations,
a training facility/display area and a product testing area.
What is revolutionary about the Red
Zone Experience is the opportunity to offer training for the trades
at a grassroots level. Many similar vehicles focus only on their company’s
product features and benefits and are really “mobile displays”.
The tour is a commitment by Milwaukee to the crucial needs in the trades
for advanced product application and safety training, especially for
the younger generation of contractors. Research shows construction trades
have higher job injury rates than most other occupations and that many
of the accidents could be prevented with more safety training for the
workers. A wide range of training options are available, including sales
training for distributor sales people. Visitors will learn how to tell
a true “Nothing but Heavy Duty” tool from cheap imitations.
Milwaukee also intends to elevate the trades and raise the consciousness
of trade careers as an option. The Red Zone Experience is being used
to promote to potential students the benefits and rewards of careers
in the trades using Milwaukee’s Respect for the Trades message. With
an average age of 47, the trades have a potential crisis in the making
as tradesmen begin retiring in the next 10-15 years. Unless more students
begin choosing trade careers now, there will be an acute shortage of
skilled tradesmen to construct homes, business and infrastructure. Milwaukee’s
Respect for the Trades message, based on extensive contractor research,
promotes the value of honest labor, the pride contractors have in their
workmanship and the passion and dedication they bring to their jobs.
The tradesmen also noted that careers in the trades are a more satisfying
alternative to dwindling manufacturing jobs or many jobs in the service
sector.
This nationwide tour will travel to Milwaukee distributors, Vo-Tech
schools, union training centers, fire/rescue events, trade shows, jobsites
and other events which attract tradesmen. The Red Zone Experience will
spend 2-3 weeks in each market and will be on the road 160 event-days
a year. Locations for the Red Zone Experience events will be posted
on the company’s website milwaukeetool.com under “Events”.
