Alfa Laval, a major provider of key products for the biofuel industry,
has been awarded a large equipment contract for several ethanol plants
in Brazil.
Alfa Laval AB – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation
and fluid handling – has won a biofuel order for process equipment to
a number of ethanol plants in Brazil. The customer is one of the largest
suppliers of ethanol plants in the world. The order includes both high
speed separators and plate heat exchangers to a biofuel order value of
about SEK 90 million. About SEK 15 million of the order value was booked
end of March, 2008. Delivery is mainly scheduled for 2008.
“We have been active in the Brazilian biofuel market for more than thirty
years and this order reinforces our position as one of the major providers
of key products to the growing Brazilian biofuel industry,” says Lars
Renstrom, CEO and President of the Alfa Laval Group.
Did you know that about 2/3 of Alfa Laval’s annual sales 2007 comes from
areas that contribute to a better environment? Heat transfer, i.e. energy
efficiency and energy saving, represents more than 50 percent of the Alfa
Laval sales. Separation technology represents close to 25 percent, mainly
cleaning of fluids and gases. Also within Alfa Laval’s fluid handling
technology you find examples of activities that contribute to a better
environment, such as tank cleaning equipment that minimizes the water
consumption.
Alfa Laval is a leading global provider of specialized products and engineering
solutions based on its key technologies of heat transfer, separation and
fluid handling. The company’s equipment, systems and services are dedicated
to assisting customers in optimizing the performance of their processes.
The solutions help them to heat, cool, separate and transport products
in industries that produce food and beverages, chemicals and petrochemicals,
pharmaceuticals, starch, sugar and ethanol.
Alfa Laval’s products are also used in power plants, aboard ships, in
the mechanical engineering industry, in the mining industry and for wastewater
treatment, as well as for comfort climate and refrigeration applications.
The company's worldwide organization works closely with customers in nearly
100 countries to help them stay ahead in the global arena. Alfa Laval
is listed on the Nordic Exchange, Nordic Large Cap, and, in 2007, posted
annual sales of about SEK 25 billion (approx. 2.7 billion euros). The
company has some 11,500 employees.
