BASF to feature pigments, films that add luster, protect brands at FUSE 2008

BASF will demonstrate pigments and films technologies, materials and brand protection, targeted to the needs of designers at FUSE 2008.

Designers of products ranging from consumer electronics to cosmetic and personal care packaging have to be more creative than ever. From sustainability to protecting brands against counterfeiting, they need to address numerous issues beyond the need to attract consumer attention.

BASF will demonstrate technologies and materials targeted to the needs of today’s designers at FUSE 2008, April 14-16, Chelsea Piers, New York, New York.

Visitors to the BASF exhibit will see pigments and films that offer color, special effects and a broad range of functionality. On the creative side, BASF will feature Mearlite* pigments that offer a natural “mother of pearl” appearance, for futuristic and high-end effects in coating, plastic and ink applications.

BASF will also present:

• Lumina* mica-based effect pigments that create dramatic visual effects when combined with other effect or color pigments in plastics applications,
• Firemist* pigments that can be used in packaging applications to impart luster, opalescence, pearlescence and other unique characteristics for eye-catching shelf appeal,
• Firemist* Colormotion color shifting pigments that bring packaging to life with brilliant color and glittering effects that move across the color spectrum with changes in the viewing angle,
• Mearlin* pearlescent and iridescent pigments designed to create lustrous or opalescent effects,
• Aurora* special effect films that enable a wide range of effects through light interference, from soft and subtle achieved by emphasizing muted transmission colors to vibrant and eye-catching using intense reflection colors, and,
• Mark-it* laser marking pigment that can be used for anti-counterfeiting applications.
