BASF to exhibit coatings materials at RadTech UV EB Expo 2008

At the RadTech Expo, BASF to display products that enhance the performance of UV EB curable coatings for wood, plastic and metal, printing inks and adhesives.

BASF will present innovative raw materials that can help formulators make their products better at the RadTech UV/EB Expo, May 5-7, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

BASF specializes in helping its customers to be more successful. At this year’s RadTech Expo, BASF will put on display products that enhance the performance of UV/EB curable coatings for wood, plastic and metal, as well as printing inks and adhesives.

Visitors to BASF booth 200 will learn about the chemistry and know-how they need to develop new products that address their customers’ requirements. BASF offers a broad portfolio of UV/EB curable resins and photoinitators, along with functional vinyl monomers to meet a wide range of applications,
including:
UV/EB curable coatings
highly durable wood coatings
waterborne UV systems
pigmented films

At RadTech 2008, BASF will launch its new Laromer* PR 9052 UV-curable, high performance resin in the United States. With outstanding abrasion and scratch resistance, Laromer PR 9052 is ideal for creating highly durable wood coatings. Laromer PR 9052 is very easy to formulate and can even reduce production complexity. Also making its U.S. debut is BASF’s new photoinitator, Lucirin* TPO-XL, which provides UV curing of even thick, pigmented films. Its liquid form makes it very easy to process and its very low yellowing allows it to be used in pastel and white UV-curing coatings.

BASF’s RadTech exhibit will also feature the world’s broadest range of functional vinyl monomers and its 75 years of experience with these products. As reactive diluents, these monomers are used in radiation-curing coatings, printing inks and adhesives. It is their high reactivity, excellent diluting properties and low toxicity that make them outstanding for this use. Vinyl ethers are also employed successfully in a great variety of applications, for example, as monomers for specialty polymers and chemical intermediates, or as synthesis building blocks in the pharmaceutical industry. The modern production process ensures high purity and consistently high product quality.
