BASF automotive coatings wins Ford quality supplier award BASF Coatings, India, the leading supplier of automotive and industrial coatings solutions, received the prestigious Ford Q 1 award.
BASF Coatings (India) Pvt Ltd, the leading supplier of automotive and industrial coatings solutions, received Ford Motor Company’s highest recognition for supplier quality – the prestigious Ford Q 1 award – at a recent vendor meeting held in Chennai, India. The Award was presented by Mr. Keith Cooper, Director Purchasing Ford Asia Pacific and Africa and Mr. Arvind Matthew, Managing Director, Ford India to Dr. Ramkumar Dhruva, Chief Executive, BASF Coatings India. The company, which has been supplying various coating solutions to the customer since 2003, is the first paint manufacturer to win this award. "The Ford Q1 Award is rewarded to suppliers who have achieved a sustained level of excellence in customer satisfaction, while meeting Ford's systems, and have demonstrated a consistently good performance on quality, delivery and manufacturing system robustness in the manufacturing process,” said Mr. K. Rajagopalan, General Manager Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Ford India.

This honor not only reflects our commitment to meeting customer satisfaction, but also the fact that the manufacturing systems and processes installed at the BASF Mangalore production site comply to Ford’s highest global standards.” In order to qualify for the Award, BASF Coatings India was required to undergo a rigorous audit, ensuring that the Company met ISO and QS criteria. It also assessed the company’s performance on a number of other criteria, including communication, teamwork as well as management review and alignments of policies and procedures to defined goals to ensure continuous improvement. Over the past few years, BASF has provided professional vendor support to the Chennai-based manufacturing unit of Ford India, a leading automotive maker, in the production of mid-sized car models, including ‘Ikon’, ‘Fusion’, ‘Fiesta’ and SUV ‘Endeavor’. On the strengths of its quality products and reliable technical support, BASF India supplies the complete range of coatings materials, namely Electro Coat, Primer, Base Coat, Clear Coat and Top Coat, to the customer.
