Ciba is presenting its latest effect pigments styling solutions at Passagen in Cologne from January 14 to 20, 2008, in the Spichernhöfe interior courtyard, Spichernstrasse 6–8. “These new effects further strengthen the links Ciba is forging between the worlds of design and technology,” said John Coy, Global Head of Business Development in Ciba’s Coating Effects Segment. “With our products, processes and technical support, we aim to help all involved in the color chain to achieve inspiring, individual styles.” The wide range of effect pigments on offer from Ciba provide new options for designers and architects, as well as converters, and paint, coatings and ink manufacturers, who can use them to make surfaces and materials more attractive, more striking and more individual. Pearlescent, luminescent, mirror-like or matt metallic and transparent effects are suitable for a vast array of different substrates. Ciba’s effect pigments can be used on their own or together with high-performance colorants to create individual new styles and designs. Ciba also offers comprehensive technical and design support via its enhanced Effect Explorer on its website.

XYMARA Nordi effects (photo 1 bottles) Ciba also specializes in pearlescent and metallic effects, which can be used to create a wide variety of stylings, the latest on offer being a range designed especially for wood. The traditional clear varnish or transparent color can now be enhanced by shimmer, shine and shading. The attainable effects range from a discreet pearlescent finish that enhances and emphasizes the grain to a bold, sparkling explosion of color. The new stylings feature in a color trend handbook entitled Color Evolution Wood, which will be on show at the fair. Other effect pigments being showcased include Ciba XYMARA Quicksilver SF-02 printing ink, which is used to produce ultra-shiny decorative mirror effects on a wide range of transparent plastic substrates. End applications include high-quality point-of-sale displays and graphics for packaging and labels for consumer goods such as perfumes, fashion wear and luxury beverages. Ciba XYMARA Quicksilver SF-02 complements and extends Ciba’s range of mirror effects. Ciba’s effect pigments can be combined with high-performance colorants, for example Ciba IRGAZIN* DPP Cosmoray* Orange, to produce individual designs. Taking color to new destinations, this novel product extends the range of attainable shades, allowing the creation of exciting new oranges and reds, and enhancing appearance and brightness. Another range of pigments that extend the range of attainable shades,
