Ciba adds appeal to plastics packaging at interpack

Ciba presents new options to add appeal and function to packaging at interpack with a special focus on color, transparency and content protection in plastics packaging.

Ciba is presenting a wide variety of solutions for enhanced appeal and functionality of packaging at interpack in Düsseldorf from April 24-30, at stands E18 in Hall 10 and C14 in Hall 14. A special focus will be color, transparency and content protection in plastics packaging. Services will also feature prominently, with new tools being demonstrated that assist communication and color management throughout the packaging value chain. A third highlight will be the latest generation of OnVu* time-temperature indicators for “the label that makes freshness visible”.

Visitors to stand E18 in Hall 10 will discover how transparency can be combined with color and effects to produce highly appealing packaging.

“Consumers often prefer transparent packaging, as it allows them to see what they are buying and whether the package is full,” says Denis Keller, Marketing Manager Packaging, Europe, Africa and Middle East. “Transparency also enhances the appeal of the goods, as it indicates freshness, cleanliness and visibility. However, transparent packaging is especially prone to content damage: Ciba offers special barrier technology to help protect packaging contents and prevent discoloration.”

Ciba provides not only a wide variety of products for enhancing packaging and protecting contents, but also extensive support to help designers and manufacturers achieve the desired results. The Color Services team will be showing how they can help companies throughout the color value chain achieve consistent color communication, ensuring faster and better results.

A special highlight will be Ciba* ColorViz innovative solutions for the mastering of color from measurement to 3D visualization. ColorViz systems allow color appearance to be simulated for digital palettes for design and decision purposes. A further focus will be Ciba MetalFX* technology, which introduces differentiating effects into artwork, at the same time ensuring that the effects can be produced economically. The team will also be demonstrating CibaS COLIBRI* Networks, an innovative internet platform that links designers, brand owners, color producers and packaging manufacturers. COLIBRI Networks allows users the benefits of accurate color communication, centralized information, and streamlined processes, including minimized number of physical samples, as well as generally helping to ensure brand uniformity across substrates and regions.

At the Bizerba stand, C14 in Hall 14, Ciba and FreshPoint will be showing the OnVu range of time-temperature indicators (TTIs) for the label “that makes freshness visible”. User-friendly OnVu TTIs allow producers, retailers and consumers to check at a glance whether perishable goods have been stored and transported properly. OnVu Logistics, the latest addition to the range, uses a specially developed color-coded system to monitor and display aggregate time and temperature conditions at pre-defined points within the logistics chain for chilled products. OnVu is suitable for all perishable goods requiring refrigeration, including meat, fish, poultry, processed fruit and vegetables, dairy produce, ready-to-eat meals, and more.
