ELAU packaging automation controllers open solution

The TeSyS U motor protection switch by Schneider Electric communicates directly with ELAU packaging automation controllers without special engineering effort or configuration tools.

ELAU, a company of the Schneider Electric Group and automation supplier for packaging machinery and more, continues to advance the integration of fieldbus-connected automation components from the parent company. The integration of the TeSys motor protection switch into ELAU’s automation module kit now provides capabilities to monitor, protect and switch single-phase and three-phase motors via CANopen or Profibus DP.

An open automation solution, the ELAU system can be combined with all available fieldbus-connected products that communicate via Profibus, EtherNet/IP, CAN and CANopen. These communications standards support fast and easy integration of fieldbus-connected automation components from Schneider Electric. Already, a solution is available for the protection of single-phase and three-phase motors:

Maximum functionality with minimum effort: available software modules makes it fast and easy to parameterize and integrate the TeSys U motor protection switch TeSys U in ELAU automation packaging solutions

Two IEC 61131-3 compliant software Function Blocks can either be integrated directly into a program or in the ELAU software template to parameterize the required functionalities of the TeSys U switch, eliminating the need for optional function modules such as error differentiation or pre-alarm. Instead, TeSys U merely uses one of the optional communication modules for CANopen, Profibus DP or for the Advantys STB I/O module by Schneider Electric to connect to the ELAU controller.

TeSys U covers a wide range of functions related to the protection of single-phase and three-phase motors. This multifunctional device can be used as motor protection switch, contactor and motor controller for currents of up to 30 A. TeSys U offers over-current, short circuit and overload protection. It isolates, monitors and protects the application by means of alarm signals, and it compiles a history of the last five errors.
