Graphic Packaging joins forces with EPA

Graphic Packaging International announces that it has become a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program.

Graphic Packaging International, Inc. announces that it has become a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program. Under this partnership, Graphic Packaging joins forces with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, other leading U.S. companies and environmental organizations to strategically improve energy efficiency and offset increasing energy costs having an impact on U.S. manufacturing industries, and to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and preserve the environment for future generations.

“We are pleased to be part of the ENERGY STAR partnership. It is time to increase our efforts in improving energy efficiency and especially reducing waste in our use of energy,” said Graphic Packaging President and CEO David Scheible. “Every step to more efficiently use energy adds improvement. Starting in our families, in our communities and in the workplace, we need to carefully examine what we do and find ways to save energy. By working together in our communities and across all U.S. industries, we can increase our energy efficiency by at least ten percent. This will make a difference in controlling energy costs, improving the U.S. economy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that’s good for all of us.”

In partnership with ENERGY STAR, Graphic Packaging will:

  • *Measure and track the energy performance of its operating facilities where possible by using tools such as those offered through the ENERGY STAR program;
  • Develop and implement a plan consistent with the ENERGY STAR Energy Management Guidelines to achieve energy savings;
  • Emphasize the importance of energy efficiency to its employees and in its operating communities;
  • Support the ENERGY STAR Challenge, a national call-to-action to help improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced ENERGY STAR in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Last year alone, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved about $16 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles.
