Plastics in E&E Applications congress Topics by LANXESS to include increasing efficiency in plastics processing dealing with the various standards that the various electrical and electronics sectors face.
As one of the co-organizers of the “Plastics in E&E Applications” congress in Wurzburg on June 5 and 6, 2008, the Semi-Crystalline Products (SCP) business unit of the specialty chemicals group LANXESS AG is offering a cross-sector information platform covering the entire value-added chain. Now in its second year, this conference hosted by the SKZ (Suddeutsches Kunststoff Zentrum) received wide acclaim from experts last year. This industry event gives plastics manufacturers, decision-makers and specialists and managers from the household, industrial and automotive electrical/electronics product sectors the perfect opportunity to share information and ideas. Says Dr. Marcus Schafer, E&E application development at SCP: “The process of sharing information and experience, as in Wurzburg, gives rise to new findings and solutions to problems and provides a basis for creating networks. Although there are differences in detail between the various standards that the various electrical and electronics sectors have to meet, there are also many features in common in terms of the requirements on plastics, for example in the connection and housing technology sectors.”
LANXESS will be contributing a lecture on “Demands made on plastics in automotive electrics/electronics.” Ralf Jantz, a development specialist for E&E automotive applications at SCP, will be giving a detailed overview of the market situation, material requirements, applications and latest trends. The spectrum of lectures covers topics ranging from increasing efficiency in plastics processing and the correct choice of insulating materials to vehicle fire investigations and LED manufacturing processes. The E&E sector is a vital segment for LANXESS, particularly on the key markets of Europe and Asia. The main customers are manufacturers of automotive, industrial and household electrical and electronic products. This sector’s enormous capacity for innovation also requires the further development of existing plastics to meet e.g. insulation, heat resistance and fire performance requirements.
