Chemicals biz focuses on specialty pigments for the coatings industry

The Functional Chemicals business unit of Lanxess to showcase its specialty pigments portfolio for the coatings industry at Interlakokraska.

Specialty chemicals group LANXESS is presenting its comprehensive and modern portfolio of inorganic pigments and inorganic and organic pigment preparations at Interlakokraska 2008 in Moscow, Russia. The focus of the 12th edition of the international trade fair for the coatings industry is on tailored specialty products used to perfectly match formulations to the respective practical requirements.

The Interlakokraska International Specialized Exhibition held every year is for the varnishes, coatings and paints industries. This year the the exhibition is held at the Moscow, Expocentr's Krasnaya Presnya Fairgrounds from March 4-7.

The Functional Chemicals business unit is showcasing its organic and inorganic pigment preparations at Pav. 1, Stand L 228. With Levanyl Gran and Levanox Gran, LANXESS offers self-dispersing, solvent-free premium products for the coloration of paints, dry construction materials and paper, as well as for use in a number of other specialty applications. The storage-stable microgranules can be used to formulate high-quality, concentrated pigment preparations. Due to their small and homogeneous particle size combined with their high pigment content, they develop their full tinting strength, gloss, transparency and intensity alrady at low concentrations while requiring only low dispersing energy. The microgranules Levanyl Gran and Levanox Gran developed by LANXESS can be easily added during processing without a previous time-consuming grinding step. They allow a practically dust-free handling and precise dosing. Due to their good flowing properties storage containers can be emptied nearly completely.

LANXESS also offers with Levanyl LF and Levanox LF a range of aqueous preparations of organic and inorganic pigments. These formulations are free of solvents and nonylphenol ethoxylate, combining high performance with simple dosing and mixing properties. Due to their small particle size combined with high pigment load, these fine pastes require only low dispersing energy in order to develop already at low doses very high tinting strength, transparency and intensity as well as high gloss. Application areas for these products comprise paints, coatings and wood varnishes.

Levanyl Gran, Levanox Gran, Levanyl LF and Levanox LF satisfy the requirements of the ecological standards EN-71 and RAL-ZU 102, among others.

The Inorganic Pigments business unit is showcasing high-performance pigments from its Bayferrox line, such as the new Bayferrox 360. This iron oxide black unites high tinting strength with a blue-black shade that is very popular with customers. Special yellow pigments from the high-performance line, such as Bayferrox 3910 LV or Bayferrox 915, enable the formulation of low-viscosity pigment preparations as required by the pastes industry. Finally, the special properties of yellow pigments with higher thermal stability from the Colortherm line and heat-stable black and brown pigments make these particularly suitable for coil coating or powder coating applications.
