PolyOne unveils new Trilliant HC portfolio of specialized polymer materials and technologies for medical device manufacturers at trade show.

These new technologies represent the latest from PolyOne in advanced materials solutions for healthcare customers and can be customized to specific application requirements to deliver exceptional high-performance, complete color-matching capabilities, and regulatory compliance. The new Trilliant HC polymer portfolio also underscores PolyOne’s commitment to healthcare industry customers through a four-pillar company strategy emphasizing specialization, commercial excellence, globalization, and operational excellence.

PolyOne’s new Trilliant HC portfolio is a specialized materials technology offering of both thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and engineered thermoplastic compounds to help medical device manufacturers stay ahead of evolving healthcare industry trends and demands. They are U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP) compliant, and meet Food, Drug & Medical Product - Good Manufacturing Practices (FDM-GMP). The new materials have been designed to provide customized high-performance properties to meet a broad range of application-specific healthcare requirements.

For example, part of the new portfolio includes Trilliant HC PbF specialty materials, which are lead-free polymer/metal composites used in radiation shielding for scanners and other diagnostic equipment. TPEs offered under the Trilliant HC brand can be used to mold or over-mold a range of ergonomic, soft-touch applications, such as grips and handles, for enhanced clinician and patient comfort. The new Trilliant HC materials can also be molded in thin walls for weight savings vs. standard products to improve device usability, portability, and safety.

PolyOne’s new Trilliant HC materials are well suited for an array of end-use products including structural, antimicrobial, surface engineering, conductive/antistatic, thermal management, pre-colored, and flame retardant applications.

Key to the success of PolyOne’s healthcare customers is the company’s Product Stewardship FDM-GMP Program, designed to provide compliance with FDA requirements. The company’s stewardship team maintains an internal FDM-GMP auditing and certification program for facilities manufacturing FDM products; screens raw materials for adherence to FDA and USP standards (including those criteria identifying Class I through VI polymers); conducts random testing of incoming raw materials for heavy metals; and reviews all finished product formulations to determine FDA compliance.
