Insider News - February 8, 2005 - Jobwerx News - BASF's
Luran S acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate protects selected darker colors
in Louisiana-Pacific Corporation's vinyl siding product lines.
Luran S ASA capstock provides homeowners with a wider choice of colors.
"Traditionally, vinyl siding has only been available in light colors
because dark colors couldn't hold up to the sun's ultraviolet rays,"
said Bob Garrett, Brand Manager for LP Vinyl. "BASF's weatherable thermoplastic
acts like a sunscreen to protect our dark colors with a durable shield
that provides superior fade protection."
"The fade resistance of vinyl varies by geographical regions in the
United States," said Doyle Robertson, Marketing Manager for BASF's Styrenic
Copolymers business in North America. "By using our weatherable capstock
on selected products, LP Vinyl will improve the weather resistance of
the darker colors in all regions. This gives builders, architects and
remodeling contractors greater flexibility for home construction and
remodeling projects."
In addition to siding, Luran S ASA is also used by other BASF customers
in door skins, fencing and exterior trim.
