$3 million federal grant to boost metalworking

Village of Pewaukee -- The Workforce Development Center has received a $3 million federal grant to improve training in the metalworking industry.

Officials plan a celebration today to announce the grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The funds are to be used to improve worker skills in companies that specialize in precision metalworking in Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington and Milwaukee counties. Those eligible for funds will include companies in good standing with the Wisconsin Precision Metalworking Council.

The grant will be administered by the Workforce Development Center on the campus of Waukesha County Technical College.

Officials hope the grant also will help attract new workers to the metalworking industry.
