Aircraft Bombardier CRJ700 Links Istanbul

Turkey's Atlasjet Newest Bombardier CRJ700 Operator - Click on image for larger scale

Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Atlasjet International Airways A.S. of Istanbul, Turkey has become the 41st operator of Bombardier CRJ aircraft.

Atlasjet will use two pre-owned Bombardier CRJ700 airliners to open new services linking Istanbul with several domestic destinations that are currently not served adequately.

"We will be the first airline in Turkey operating new-generation Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft," said Tuncay Doganer, Managing Director, Atlasjet International Airways. "The CRJ700 aircraft will provide us with the range capability to cover all destinations in Turkey with the right economics and performance. The CRJ700 airliner will also give passengers the flexibility provided by direct services to many more destinations."

"More and more airlines are recognizing the continuing ability of the Bombardier CRJ family of aircraft to deliver significant benefits in economics, performance and passenger satisfaction," said Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Regional Aircraft.

Atlasjet began operations in June, 2001 with two Boeing 757 aircraft.

To date, Bombardier has received firm orders for a total of 1,432 CRJ Series aircraft including the 50-seat CRJ100/200, 44-seat CRJ440, 70- to 78-seat CRJ700, 74- to 75-seat CRJ700 Series 705 and 86- to 90-seat CRJ900 aircraft. As of March 31, 2005 1,233 CRJ Series aircraft had been delivered to customers in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America, making the Bombardier CRJ Series the most successful regional aircraft program in history.

The Bombardier CRJ700 Long Range aircraft, which will be available in the first quarter of 2006, will be powered by General Electric CF34-8C5B1 engines. Existing CRJ700 aircraft can readily be retrofitted to the new CRJ700 LR aircraft standards.

The CRJ700 LR aircraft will have a range of 2,516 miles (4,048 km), an increase of about 276 miles (444 km) over the CRJ700 ER (extended range) model.

The extended range is made possible by increasing the aircraft's maximum take-off weight, allowing it to carry more fuel. In addition to the increase in the maximum take-off weight, the LR model will also provide an increase in the maximum payload and maximum landing weights. These weight increases will allow the airlines greater flexibility in the operation of the CRJ700 LR jetliner.
