Free EDM Training Program for Students

Decatur, Texas--March 03, 2004-- Manufacturer of quality graphites
offers free training seminars and hands-on training on the latest EDM
equipment.
Poco Graphite announced that they are moving their Midwest EDM Training
efforts to the POCO Corporate Training Center located at their Decatur,
Texas headquarters. This state-of-the-art facility accommodates up to
20 students and contains the latest EDM equipment for hands-on training.
The dedicated corporate training center allows POCO to consolidate its
training locations as they continue to support the North American EDM
community with free, three-day training programs.
Since the original intent of the EDM Training Program was to expose students
to graphite manufacturing, materials classifications, EDM technology,
and graphite machining, holding classes at the manufacturing site give
students the ability to tour the plant and interact with graphite specialists
in each department. POCO's EDM test lab, materials lab, and complete machining
operation are of particular interest to many EDMers. According to Rick
Slimp, EDM Manager, "Centralizing our training efforts at our main facility
will allow all our students to benefit from this large body of graphite
specialists. Not only will they be able to see the difference in performance
of the various graphite grades, but they will gain a better understanding
of the quality issues involved. We always encourage our students to bring
examples of their tough applications or problem jobs to class. Having
a broader knowledge base to tackle these problems, usually leads to lively
discussions."
POCO's Decatur based EDM Team continues to provide the most comprehensive
applications support and practical tools of any graphite manufacturer
at no charge to the EDM community. Support includes shop floor application
assistance, on-site seminars, and classroom training. POCO tools consist
of an interactive web site, EDM Technical Manual and CD, Properties and
Characteristics of Graphite Book, plastic EDM finish surface gauge, and
materials selection guide. Customer site training is also available.
