Hamburg, Germany --October 07, 2003-- SIG: the complete global partner for the Brewing Industry
The 44th edition of BRAU Beviale, to be held in Nuremberg from 12 to 14 November 2003, is a major date for operators in the sector. SIG allCap, SIG Corpoplast, and SIG Simonazzi are the companies representing the SIG Group at the event. They will bring all their expertise to the fair for their specific fields of competence: i.e. sealing, blow-molding, and filling and complete lines, respectively. In short, their presence will be a practical illustration of the integration concerning the companies in the group and the total supply SIG also offers for the sophisticated beer market. SIG
allCap As one of the largest manufacturers of closure systems
in Europe, SIG allCap has a large know-how in plastics technology and,
in particular, in the sector of beverage closures for aseptic cartons
and bottles. With an annual capacity of 4.5 billion closures,
SIG allCap currently supplies more than 350 customers in 48 countries
around the world. State-of-the-art production plant, including assembly
robots, ensure a high level of quality, which is permanently monitored
by the ISO 9001 system. A standard range of products is available for PET bottles in the most commonly-used closure sizes, 28 – 48 mm (BPF and PCO necks). Where special solutions are required, our engineers continually develop products tailored to customer needs, thereby proving that innovation is not an empty word. SIG
Corpoplast SIG Corpoplast will inform about latest developments
in its stretch blow moulding machines BLOMAX Series III. Since the official
market launch in September 2001, SIG Corpoplast has already sold more
than 100 machines of this most recent line. The 100th machine, a BLOMAX
16 Series III will soon be delivered to the British soft drinks maker
Britvic Soft Drinks Ltd. in Norwich, UK Hot filling
and pasteurisation require heat resistant PET bottles. The thermal
resistance of PET bottles can be increased by applying a special stretch
blow molding process where molecular orientations from the stretching
process are relaxed and a certain crystallinity in the PET wall is generated.
The BLOMAX Series III-HR are a special development for heat resistant
bottles. PLASMAX, the new
plasma-coating machine for barrier-enhanced PET bottles, jointly developed
by SIG Corpoplast and Schott HiCotec is constantly moving on a track
of success. After receiving the well recognized scientific award “Reinhold
Hagen Preis” in May and getting the FDA-approval in August Plasmax is
now on full speed in the industrial testing phase at Bischofszell Food
Ltd in Switzerland. A fast and
reliable service, not only for spare parts, contributes to the efficiency
of the customer’s plant operation. At BRAU 2003 SIG Corpoplast will
inform about latest developments named ATP (Available To Promise), i.e. the compliance of the actual with the
confirmed delivery time of spare parts and SPOOL (Spare Parts Orders On Line) an internet based spar parts ordering tool as
it is already implemented at SIG Simonazzi.. SIG
Simonazzi and the beer world As far back as the second half of the 1980s, SIG Simonazzi–at that time simply “Simonazzi”– was already a major supplier of equipment and complete packaging lines to the beer industry. Since then it has grown steadily, and today sales in the beer sector account for over 40 % of the company’s overall sales volume. There are several reasons for this outstanding success, which is even more remarkable considering the traditional German hold on the beer industry. Firstly, Simonazzi developed state-of-the-art dedicated equipment. Secondly, the company’s impressive growth meant it gained considerable experience as a provider of complete packaging lines with an expert approach to project management. Nevertheless these important steps would not have been sufficient to consolidate the current position without also implementing further actions, such as total quality management and the creation of a dedicated team of experts to deal with such an important market (the Multinational Breweries Team). What happened next was a logical follow-on. The specific competencies in the team grew stronger and combined typically Italian creative flair with a solid approach to anticipating the customers’ needs with intelligent solutions. This led to a long chain of conspicuous successes. One classic example is the recent order to supply all the packaging lines to the new Grolsch Brewery in Enschede (NL), the only greenfield brewery presently under construction in Western Europe. Such important results are in fact the best confirmation of the company’s strategy to become a reference source for solutions optimizing customers’ production facilities and guaranteeing a maximum return on investment. The ingredients in SIG Simonazzi’s recipe for success can be summed as follows: the use of the latest, most highly effective technologies available, the integration of line design with material handling and logistics, always taking into account the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and an overall approach combining “natural” creativity and innovation.
