Newmarket, Ontario, Canada --January 13, 2004-- Versatile spray skin combined with advanced design creates award-winning luxury.

The Cadillac CTS was honored with the Car Interior of the Year Award, at the 2003 Car Interiors Show in Detroit, thanks in part to BASF's Elastoskin™ polyurethane material.

Elastoskin elastomers, an alternative to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other skin materials commonly used for automotive interiors, are said to offer good grain definition and style, durability, abrasion resistance, weatherability and UV stability, and long-lasting gloss and color. They also are claimed to provide a soft feel over a wide temperature range.

"In addition to their other physical properties, our Elastoskin materials provide a soft and exquisite feel over an extremely wide temperature range," said Michael Pcolinski, Business Manager, Urethane Flexible Systems. "For all these reasons, they are the materials of choice for the interiors of quality cars like the Cadillac CTS."

The instrument panels and door panels of the CTS are supplied by the Interiors Group of Intier Automotive, which reports that Elastoskin elastomers have proven to be ideal alternatives to PVC. "Utilizing Elastoskin material in our PUR-FECT Skin technology enables us to create interior components with superior grain definition, tactile feel, and durability. The components easily meet our own high standards for quality and appearance, and they clearly meet the world-renowned standards of Cadillac," said Thomas Apostolos, President of Intier's Interiors Group, which is headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.
