Perhaps it's a sign things are looking up; Boeing is hiring once again!

Hundreds crowded into a room at the Bellevue Red Lion, but not for a banquet.

"This hiring sign is out at Boeing," said Boeing's Donna Wildrick, who says there are jobs available locally.

"We have about two-to-three hundred that are specifically for future combat systems," she said.

These are engineering positions requiring high security clearances, which is not encouraging for current Boeing employee Lewis Smith, who attended Monday's job fair.

"I'm a mechanical engineer. But my last day (with Boeing) is Friday," she said.

So you don't think you'll stay with the company?

"I'm looking for a different avenue of employment."

Still, Bill Tuseck hopes to land one. He's been out of work for a while.

"Since last September. I'm just here to see what they have available in engineering, specifically mechanical engineering/stress analyst," he said.

Boeing has a couple thousand openings in California.
