Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--New Skylink worldwide debut of Innovia
technology for Texas Airport achieves a significant milestone in airport
transit systems.
Bombardier, along with other invited guests, participated in the celebration
of the inaugural launch of the Innovia automated people mover (APM)
at Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) international airport. Mr. Wolfgang Toelsner,
Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Transportation and Mr. Raymond T.
Betler, President of Bombardier Transportation’s Total Transit Systems,
attended the May 4th festivities surrounding the worldwide debut of
the Innovia technology for the Airport’s new Skylink system. Mr. Jeff
Fegan, DFW’s Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Dan Petty, President,
North Texas Commission, presided at the evening celebration.
Bombardier’s scope of work for the 8-km (5-mi.) system included the
design and supply of 64 Innovia vehicles, the Bombardier CITYFLO 650
automated train control technology, power distribution and communications
systems, platform screen doors, project management, systems engineering
and integration, training for the Airport’s operations personnel, as
well as equipping the maintenance facility. The Central Control Center
is staffed and operated by DFW personnel. In addition, Bombardier is
providing five years of maintenance services. The fleet of vehicles
will serve 10 stations incorporated along the dual-lane guideway that
connects the existing terminals with a new international terminal.

Wolfgang Toelsner commented: “The debut of SkyLink represents two significant
milestones in airport transit systems. It marks the inauguration of
the Bombardier Innovia technology and the completion of the largest
airport people mover in the world today.” He added: “We are especially
proud to be part of DFW’s vision to provide enhanced and reliable service
for its airport passengers and look forward to a long-term relationship
with our customer for many years to come.”
As a world leader in fully automated transit systems, Bombardier has
supplied and is operating systems for airports in Frankfurt, Germany;
Rome, Italy; and Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Miami, Newark, New York,
and San Francisco, USA. Bombardier is currently supplying APM systems
to Spain’s Barajas International Airport in Madrid and Heathrow International
Airport, United Kingdom, where it will deploy the Innovia system
and CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology.
Only last month, Bombardier refurbished and upgraded the
Automated People Mover shuttle system at Tampa International Airport,
Tampa, Florida, USA. Since 1971, Bombardier has designed and supplied
six elevated shuttle systems for Tampa International Airport, and replaced
two of the original lines. Bombardier also maintains the current fleet
of 16 C-100 Series vehicles that operate on the Airport’s system, as
well as the fleet of monorail vehicles.
