Automotive
spare parts and accessories/Testing Technology News Release -
Bosch Rexroth AG, Germany/August 8, 2003/Bosch was the first manufacturer to market a mass production anti-lock braking system (ABS) for passenger cars in 1978. Today, ABS has established itself worldwide. Increasingly, technical develop-ments based on ABS – such as the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Traction Control (ASR) – are being fitted to cars. In Germany, more than 90 percent of new cars are now fitted with ABS. The figure for Europe as a whole is only slightly less. As many as 50 percent of all cars produced in Germany even have ESP. More than one in three of all the ABS systems fitted worldwide come from Bosch. The leading brake systems supplier for the automotive industry also offers workshops not only an extensive range of aftermarket brake system spares, but also workshop equipment, diagnostic software and training courses on all aspects of brake systems. New developments flowing from series production are constantly being added to the range of aftermarket spares. Bosch's extensive spares catalog offers workshops a high level of market coverage in addition to the very well-known brand name. The products and catalogs simplify both storage and fitting. The complete drum brake repair kits are a good example of this. The
Bosch Kit Pro contains all the necessary components for the repair of
drum brakes, from the wheel cylinder to the brake shoes to the small
parts – all precisely matched and guaranteed to fit. This saves time
having to look for all the separate parts in a catalog. In the Super
Pro Kit, all the components are even pre-assembled, saving workshops
up to 50 percent of the time needed to repair a set of drum brakes. But Bosch's support for workshops in relation to braking technology
goes far beyond merely supplying the replacement parts. Bosch also offers: In addition, Bosch's “Brake Technology” product module offers a product-specific complete package with all the know-how of an OEM, which facilitates the transition from the simple parts trade to the increasingly important vehicle systems business. In addition to aftermarket spares, the module also gives workshops the necessary test equipment and access to professional know-how in the form of software, service training courses and a technical hotline. This enables workshops to present themselves to customers as profes-sionally-competent brake specialists.
