Engineering Plastics Supplier Captures Prestigious Award

Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Ticona was the only North American supplier of engineering plastics to receive the Global Contribution Award from Denso automotive systems Japan.

Denso Corporation, a leading global supplier of automotive systems and components, has awarded Ticona a Global Contribution Award for 2004. Ticona, the engineering polymers business of the Celanese Corporation, received the award based on criteria that involved product quality, technical support, on-time delivery and contribution to Denso’s cost reduction goals.

Ticona has worked with Denso since the late 1980s and currently supplies it with acetal copolymer, polyester and polyphenylene sulfide for fuel systems and other automotive areas. The award recognizes for Ticona’s activities in conjunction with Denso’s U.S. plants in Tennessee and Michigan, as well as in Mexico.

“Ticona was the only North American supplier of engineering plastics to receive this award in 2004,” says Alan Wilson, Ticona account manager. “This reflects our rapidly growing relationship with Denso and underscores our long-term commitment to quality, service, technology and innovation. It also recognizes our close ties to our joint-venture partner Polyplastics Group in servicing Denso.”

The collaboration between Polyplastics, which is based in Japan, and Ticona allows Denso auto applications to be translated smoothly from Asia to North America and Europe as projects move from start-up to production. In a related development, Denso awarded Polyplastics its 2004 “Comprehensive Prize,” which named Polyplastics as the supplier making the greatest contribution to Denso.

Denso Corporation, headquartered in Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan, is a leading global supplier of advanced technology, systems and components. Its customers include all the world's major carmakers. Worldwide, it employs 104,000 people in 31 countries and regions. Consolidated global sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2005 totaled US$26.2 billion.

Ticona Technical Polymers is one of the businesses of Celanese Corporation and produces and markets a broad range of engineering polymers at production, compounding and research facilities in the USA, Germany and Brazil.
