Plastics Manufacturer Appoints Former Exxon VP

Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Manufacturer of innovative plastics, Cyclics Corporation, appoints former Executive Vice President of Exxon Chemicals to the Board.

John Akitt has joined the board of directors of Cyclics Corporation. Mr. Akitt began his association with Cyclics as an advisor early in the company’s history and later became an investor in March, 2004.

Cyclics manufactures the new high performance polyester, CBT® resin. The resin is used in compounding, nanocomposites, rotational molding, structural composites, and casting. Key markets include use as an additive or flow promoter in other resins, and to mold automotive body panels and lightweight structural parts, parts for electronics, wind turbine blades and fuel tanks.

“We’re very pleased to have John on our board of directors,” said Ted Eveleth, CEO of Cyclics Corporation. “His seasoned executive leadership in a global chemical company is exactly the type of experience that we can benefit from as we begin to address the strong market pull for our resin in many countries.”

“I’m encouraged by the dramatic progress that Cyclics has made by going from a stack of patents to an over 5 million pound plant in only six years,” said John Akitt. “I look forward to working with the Cyclics team as they grow their production capacity and develop into a major enterprise in the plastics industry.”

Prior to his retirement in 1998, Mr. Akitt was Executive Vice President of Exxon Chemical Company, a division of Exxon Corporation, based in Houston Texas. He has also held leadership positions in the leading Chemical Industry Associations in Canada, Europe and the United States and he has been a consultant to the Chemical Manufacturers Association (the predecessor to the American Chemistry Council) and a Director of the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology. Mr. Akitt currently serves as a Director on a leading North American steel company and as a director at several chemical companies in the US. Mr. Akitt holds a BASc degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto and currently resides in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Cyclics Corporation, headquartered in Schenectady, New York, U.S.A. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Cyclics Europe GmbH based in Schwarzheide, Germany, manufacture innovative plastics that offer breakthroughs in processing, making new products possible and changing the economics of existing ones. The water-like processing viscosities of Cyclics’ engineering thermoplastic products offer improvements in performance and productivity for structural composites, compounding, casting, nanocomposites, coatings and rotational moulding. Cyclics has alliances with Ahlstrom Glassfibre Oy, Alcan Composites, BASF, Davy Process Technology, Dow Automotive and The P Group.
