Flame Retardants for
Plastics Worldwide Price Increase
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Great Lakes, leading producer of
flame retardant products that protect against fire in plastics, announces
price increases.
Great Lakes Chemical Corporation products protect against fire in plastics
for consumer applications such as automotive, electrical, building materials,
and furnishings.
Great Lakes will increase prices worldwide on Firemaster® 550/Firemaster®
552, Tetrabromophthalic anhydride (PHT4), Tetrabromophthalic anhydride
derivatives, and HBCD (Hexabromocyclododecane) flame retardants. These
price increases are in addition to all other increases previously announced
and will be effective for shipments beginning July 1, 2005, or as contracts
allow. New price increases will be for bromine-based flame retardants
for the Building and Construction Industry.
Prices for the Firemaster 550/Firemaster 552 series (proprietary phosphorus
and bromine based blend), Tetrabromophthalic anhydride (PHT4) and Tetrabromophthalic
anhydride derivatives will increase globally by up to $0.15/lb respectively.
Prices for HBCD (Hexabromocyclododecane) will increase by up to 5% globally.
The company stated that the new pricing is necessary due to the unprecedented
and rapidly increasing costs of key raw materials, energy products,
and logistics which have also created significant availability concerns
for certain key feed stocks. Additionally, these pricing actions are
consistent with achieving profitability levels needed to support on-going
investments required to meet rapidly expanding demand for flame retardant
additives in the building and construction industry. Strong demand is
driven by both expanding end use and fire safety regulatory requirements.
Great Lakes is the world's leading producer of flame retardants with
an aggressive commitment to technological innovation and product development.
Offering the largest and broadest portfolio of flame retardants, Great
Lakes products include bromine, phosphorus, and antimony-based flame
retardants, other flame retardant synergists and smoke suppressants.
These products protect against fire in plastics for consumer applications
such as automotive, electrical, building materials, and furnishings.
Great Lakes Chemical Corporation is the world's leading producer of
certain specialty chemicals for such applications as water treatment,
household cleaners, flame retardants, polymer stabilizers, fire suppressants,
