Washington, DC --February 18, 2004-- New Fields officials announced that The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Iraq Reconstruction Task Force will present its activities in Iraq to representatives from hundreds of companies and organizations from around the world at the 3rd Rebuilding Iraq Conference.

Peter Hale, deputy to Assistant Secretary of Commerce William Lash, will address the February 25-26 event in Arlington, Virginia.

The Iraq Reconstruction Task Force, headed by Assistant Secretary Lash and Director Jay Brandes, serves as an important clearinghouse of information for U.S. companies interested in the new Iraq. The Task Force provides companies with current information on reconstruction opportunities and the redevelopment of Iraq’s economy by working closely with the Coalition Provisional Authority, other government agencies, and a variety of international organizations.

“We are honored to have Peter Hale’s participation in the 3rd Rebuilding Iraq Conference,” said Samir Farajallah, President and CEO of New Fields. “The Commerce Department’s Iraq Reconstruction Task Force plays a pivotal role in providing information to companies interested in hitting the ground in the new Iraq. Hearing this information straight from the source will be a highlight of the conference and is something that our attendees are very excited about.”

The conference will also feature Mrs. Nasreen Barwari, the Iraqi Governing Council’s Minister of Public Works, along with other Iraqi government and business officials eager to form partnerships with companies from the United States and elsewhere in the world. Decision-makers from Halliburton will discuss contracting and sub-contracting opportunities.

Following February's 3rd Rebuilding Iraq Conference and Expo, New Fields plans to hold its next exhibition in Iraq itself.

Four hundred attendees from companies and organizations in 30 countries attended the 2nd Rebuilding Iraq Conference in December, which was covered by the front page of The New York Times, Reuters, MSNBC, and in dozens of other media outlets throughout the world. The event was sponsored by DHL, Microsoft, Emerge Technologies, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, the Baghdad Museum Project, and the Foreign Policy Research Institute.
