LANXESS to Showcase Portfolio for the Paper Industry in Asia

Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--LANXESS will be presenting their comprehensive range of products for the Asian paper industry at the China Paper exhibition next month.

LANXESS Deutschland GmbH and LANXESS Chemical (Shanghai) Company Ltd. will be presenting their comprehensive range of products for the Asian paper industry at the China Paper exhibition, September 20-22, 2005, Beijing, Hall 2, Stand 2115. They will in particular be showcasing Baysize® I, a range of synthetic internal sizing agents, as well as dyes including Levacell® and Pontamine® anionic direct dyes and AstraTM basic dyes. Surface sizing agents, strength agents, retention/drainage aids and fluorescent whitening agents will also be on display.

Baysize® I is a range of sizing agents based on alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA) which achieve highly effective sizing over a broad pH spectrum (5.0 to 9.0). The anhydride group reacts readily with the fibers and other components in the pulp. This excellent reactability, backed by the state-of-the-art ASA emulsification process, means that sizing is 90-100 % complete before the actual size press stage. Baysize® I also makes for easy control of the degree of sizing and facilitates the application of surface preparations. This cost-effective ASA-based sizing agent can be stored virtually without limitation provided storage regulations are adhered to.

Levacell® and Pontamine® anionic direct dyes are perfectly suited to coloring almost any grade of paper. They fulfill the stringent requirements of the tissue sector for excellent affinity and high levels of bleedfastness. Their minimal white water staining and high lightfastness make them perfect for use in and graphic papers. These direct dyes are outstandingly cost-effective, and are available in liquid or powder form.

Levacell® anionic dyes and AstraTM basic dyes are ideal for achieving the brown shade required for test liners. Ready-to-use brown mixtures and individual components are available for achieving custom color shades. They are particularly well-suited to combination dyeing using continuous dosing systems. Optimum color control and a high level of cost-effectiveness can be achieved by using a multi-component system - preferably a combination of three dyes. Paper manufacturers can create their desired colors themselves by using the three basic components.

Levacell® Brown GRL liquid 01 is a new shade of brown for homogeneous wet end dyeing of test liners. This anionic direct dye is a color-stable, lightfast and environmentally sound alternative to conventional basic dyes. It is highly concentrated, odorless and non-corrosive. The dye achieves lightfastness of level 2 in xenotesting. The new product, which falls into German water hazard class 2, can be used to achieve stable color shades without any shift in tone towards red. According to the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), Levacell® dyes are suitable for use in food packaging provided that the dye does not migrate into the food.

Levacell® and Pontamine® anionic powdered dyes are particularly useful for printing and writing papers as well as hygiene and special paper grades. Compared to liquid dyes, they offer better absorption, less white water staining, better bleedfastness and a lower COD value. Thanks to their high level of brilliance and good affinity for lignin-based pulps, the basic AstraTM dyes deliver outstanding performance with an excellent price to color strength ratio. They can be used on wood pulp, semi-bleached thermomechanical pulp (TMP) and chemi-thermomechanical (CTMP) pulp as well as unbleached pulp.

As one of the leading suppliers of dyes to the paper industry, LANXESS not only boasts an extremely comprehensive product portfolio but also has the expertise required to tailor dye formulae to the specific needs of its customers. As a special customer service, LANXESS has developed an innovative dosing system for paper dyes which can be built into almost any existing equipment or PCE system for setting color tone. It also offers the facility to run tests using a portable online color measuring system in conjunction with the new dosing system. This allows testing and production processes to be optimized.

The new brochure on dyes for paper/board applications contains all the key information about the company’s comprehensive portfolio. It can be requested free of charge by faxing LANXESS on +49 (0) 214 30 23250.

Detailed information about the company’s entire range of products for the paper industry can be found on the Company website.
