Price Increases for
Paper Chemicals
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Paper Business Unit to raise prices
for paper chemicals segments, including dyestuff, surface sizing, whitening
agents afor packaging and specialty papers.
LANXESS will be raising prices in some of its paper chemical segments
- namely the Retaminol®, Baysize®, Blankophor® and dyestuff ranges, effective
October 1, 2005.
Due to dramatic increases in raw materials and freight costs, which is
as had a major impact on production, commenting on this, Eckhard Wenderoth,
Head of the Paper Business Unit at LANXESS, said: "Despite increasing
production at our sites in Leverkusen and Bushy Park, USA, on a clearly
vigorous market we find ourselves forced to implement targeted price adjustments.
Increased costs can no longer be compensated for by internal structural
measures."
The Retaminol® retention and drainage agents can be used with a variety
of different pulp systems for acidic, neutral and alkaline paper production,
that is for coated and non-coated fine paper, magazine paper and linerboard.
The Baysize® range is comprised of internal and surface sizing agents
for producing fine, packaging and specialty papers. The paper is refined
by these functional chemicals that particularly enhance the paper’s writing
and print quality.
Whitening agents from the extensive Blankophor® range are mainly deployed
in the paper industry for internal and surface application, or for adding
to coating colors.
LANXESS offers the paper industry a wide range of dyes which can be deployed
to meet specific requirements. The AstraTM range enables brilliant colors
to be produced cost-effectively and is deployed in particular for dyeing
and shading printing and writing papers based on wood-containing raw materials,
liners and packaging papers, and tissue based on recovered paper. The
Levacell® and Pontamine® direct dyestuffs are particularly well suited
to dyeing printing, writing, sanitary and packaging papers, liners and
specialties. They produce excellent results in shading white paper.
