Toolmaker Moves Again
« Continued from previous page
Expansion
In May of 2003, Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp., Brookfield, started
a small assembly operation in Mexico and moved 75 to 90 jobs from its
plants in Blytheville, Ark., and Kosciusko, Miss., to the new plant.
In 2001, the Milwaukee brand was launched in Australia by Milwaukee’s
sister company Atlas Copco Electric Tools, located in Winnenden, Germany
and was re-launched in Europe and the rest of the world in 2002.
The Company was founded in 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by A.F. Siebert
around the “Hole-Shooter”, the first lightweight, portable, one-handed
1/4" capacity drill. The firm continued its reputation as an innovator
by designing a unique, space-efficient Right-Angle Drill in 1949, the
first self-contained portable electric hacksaw, the Sawzall®
reciprocating saw in 1951, and the Hole-Hawg® high-torque drill
in 1970, all of which became the industry standard for contractors.
Milwaukee is headquartered in Brookfield, Wisconsin, which is also home
to research, new product development, manufacturing support, marketing,
sales and information systems. It has modern production facilities in
Greenwood, Jackson and Kosciusko, Mississippi; Blytheville, Arkansas;
Brookfield, Wisconsin and Matamoros, Mexico. Milwaukee’s products are
also manufactured to its exacting standards in modern facilities in
Europe and throughout the world.
