Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx)--APRIL 15, 2005--A breakthrough in small solid
carbide drill technology and development of the cutting process for high-speed
drilling.
CrazyDrill Cool, from Mikron Tool SA Agno, Switzerland, is used for
all applications requiring deep, accurately drilled holes. In order
to cover the entire spectrum from non-ferrous metal to heat-treated
steel, it is available either with a specially developed coating or
in an uncoated version. The internal cooling system developed by Mikron
Tool provides optimum cooling and lubrication at the cutting edge, even
with low coolant pressure. The special CrazyDrill cutting edge geometry
is designed for optimum chip removal. Pecking is not required up to
10 x Ø. Compared with a standard deep-hole drill, it achieves advance
speeds and feeds 10 to 20 times higher.
CrazyDrill covers high-speed drilling with diameters of up to 4 mm,
while the Special Tools range from end mills, to step drills, reamers
and finishing tools with diameters from 0.2 to 30 mm ( .008" - 1.18").
The extraordinary success since the first presentation of this new product
at Metav 2004 as well as the orders already entered have reinforced
the strategy by the Swiss tool manufacturer Mikron Tool SA Agno to concentrate
on new developments which bring the most benefits to their customers!
CrazyDrill Cool, the small drill with internal cooling, together with
the corresponding PilotDrill manages to perform drilling tasks even
with difficult materials. Since the middle of the last year, production
runs at full speed. This allows delivery from stock of standard sizes.
Customers can purchase from the headquarters of Mikron Tool in Agno
(Switzerland) or from the subsidiary in Rottweil (Germany).
The standard diameters of Ø 1 to 4 mm, in increments of 0,05 mm are
available from stock in the coated version for the machining of steel
and in an uncoated version for non-ferrous metals. The customer can
choose between three lengths: 6 x Ø, 10 x Ø and 15 x Ø. In all a very
considerable amount of stock, 366 different types, is available. When
questioned about the particular qualities of the new drill, the Technical
Director of Mikron Tool says: the name CrazyDrill is not a coincidence.
The results achieved, especially with stainless steel are really extraordinary.
A hole, Ø 1,5 mm with a depth of 22,5 mm in stainless steel (X2CrNiMo18-14-3)
is made at a speed of vc = 40 - 45 m/min and a feed of f = 0,05 mm/r.
In this case, 4 pecks are sufficient to reach the full depth. The use
of a paired PilotDrill to prepare the hole guarantees constant drilling
precision and a perfect guide for the subsequent drilling.
Mikron Tool is a manufacturer of small to medium-sized cutting tools
for the high-end market. The cutting tools, manufactured principally
from tungsten carbide with tight tolerances, are divided into two product
lines, Special Tools and CrazyDrills. Both are successfully used in
the high-volume machining of precise workpieces.
Many producers from industries, such as Automotive Subcontractors,
Precision Engineering, Electronics, Home Electronics, Medical, Telecommunications,
Fittings, Spectacles and Ball Pen manufacturers among others owe the
good reputation of their products to a well-directed usage of special
tools and solutions provided by Mikron Tool Engineering.
