EU Waste Directive for
Electronics and Electrical Equipment
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Nordson meets European Union mandate
for the collection, treatment, recycling and disposal of electrical and
electronics waste.
Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) announced that it has met the compliance
deadline for the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive.
The directive, adopted by the European Union in January 2003, mandates
the collection, treatment, recycling and disposal of waste electrical
and electronic equipment by July 2005.
In accordance with the WEEE directive, Nordson has identified and labeled
its products that are affected by the regulations. Nordson also has developed
a strategy to support recycling of the electrical and electronic equipment
and has created a section on its Web site, www.nordson.com, to provide
customers with information on how to return WEEE-labeled products for
proper recycling.
"We believe that Nordson's role as a good corporate citizen requires taking
responsibility to protect the environment and communities in the 30 countries
around the world where we conduct business," said Edward P. Campbell,
chairman and chief executive officer of Nordson. "We completely support
the European Union's efforts to recycle electrical and electronic equipment
and to reduce the amount of waste that it generates," Campbell added.
Nordson also is working towards meeting the July 2006 compliance deadline
for the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) directive,
which regulates the use of six hazardous substances in electrical and
electronic equipment. In addition, Nordson has made the decision to design
all of its future products to RoHS standards.
Nordson Corporation is one of the world's leading producers of precision
dispensing equipment that applies adhesives, sealants and coatings to
a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing
operations. The company also manufactures technology-based systems for
curing and surface treatment processes. Headquartered in Westlake, Ohio,
Nordson Corporation has 3,600 employees worldwide and direct operations
and sales support offices in 30 countries.
