Mar., 09 /WATERFORD, N.Y.--GE Silicones announces the introduction of the Company's newest innovation for electronics gasketing and staking applications, LVG342 low volatile silicone adhesive. Formulated for use by aerospace, avionics and other specialty electronics manufacturers, LVG342 adhesive offers low volatility, controlled out-gassing and excellent compression set properties.

"LVG342 adhesive is a significant development in materials technology for electronics," notes Michael J. Brierton, Program Manager for GE Silicones. "In addition to low volatility, controlled out-gassing and excellent compression set benefits, the thixotropic paste consistency of LVG342 adhesive makes it an attractive choice for robotic dispensing. This combination of performance characteristics can provide key benefits for gasketing and staking applications in aerospace, avionics and automotive electronics."

LVG342 adhesive is a low volatile, two component, thixotropic silicone material that cures quickly at elevated temperatures to a durable elastomer. LVG342 silicone adhesive has been developed for use in applications that are sensitive to volatile siloxane species. For many applications, LVG342 adhesive can provide low volatility and controlled out-gassing without the need for an extended post-cure bake cycle.

LVG342 silicone adhesive offers primerless adhesion to a broad range of substrates, including most metals and many types of engineered thermoplastics. When cured, it is a soft, 40A durometer elastomer offering attractive compression set deflection characteristics. LVG342 adhesive can provide excellent compression stress relaxation and sealing force retention properties for both wet and cured bead formed-in-place (FIPG) gasketing applications.
