Packaging Services Provider
To Close Plant
Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Sonoco global packaging company will
close its tube and core plant in Canandaigua, New York.
Sonoco (NYSE: SON), the global packaging company, today announced that
it will close its tube and core plant in Canandaigua, New York, as part
of its previously announced plans to reduce its overall cost structure.
The plant closing will be phased over the next year.
The Canandaigua operations, located at 105 North Street, will be consolidated
into other facilities in the immediate area. The plant employs approximately
40 personnel and primarily manufactures tubes and cores for the film and
converting industries. Sonoco has operated the plant since 1968.
"It is always difficult to close a facility such as Canandaigua with such
excellent employees who take great pride in craftsmanship and service
to customers," said M. Jack Sanders, vice president, Industrial Products
- North America. "The Company has adequate capacity to absorb the volume
from Canandaigua, and the closing will not adversely impact the Company's
capability to serve its markets and customers," said Sanders.
Sonoco, founded in 1899, is a global manufacturer of industrial and consumer
products and provider of packaging services, with more than 300 operations
in 35 countries serving customers in 85 nations.
