Seattle, WA, USA--(Jobwerx News)--Sony Electronics unifies its Baja California manufacturing operations under one cohesive management team.

Sony Electronics' North American operations, which are headquartered in San Diego, in order to increase the overall value and production capabilities from Sony's facilities in Mexicali and Tijuana, Mexico, has unified its Baja California manufacturing operations.

In an effort to improve competitiveness and ensure a high-level of quality while maintaining optimal organizational efficiency, Sony's operations in the Baja region will now be aligned under one organization, Sony Baja California (SBC), which will be headed by Takahiro Kawamura. Most recently, Kawamura oversaw Sony's television manufacturing operation in Pittsburgh, including CRT, LCD, micro-display and plasma models.

Reporting to Kawamura will be Manuel Silva, who will head-up operations of the two facilities, Victor Castro in charge of manufacturing operations and Edgardo Blanchet, who is in charge of administrative and human resources at the plants. Both previously had similar roles and responsibilities specifically at the Tijuana operation.

Sony Baja California is now part of a larger business unit of Sony Electronics Inc. called TV Operations of America (TVOA).

In addition to Mexico, TVOA has significant engineering and manufacturing operations in Pittsburgh and San Diego.

Sony has had operations in the Baja region for over 17 years, with the annual production of millions of televisions, audio equipment and key components. Sony has evolved from a purely manufacturing venture to establishing design functions in our Mexican operations and continue to strengthen our competitive advantage with additional strategies of direct distribution to our clients in Mexico, Latin America, Canada and the United States.
